The National Modular Housing Council’s report for modular housing shipments indicates a strong year end close in fourth quarter 2004. In the state and national survey of modular home shipments, conducted by Hallahan Associates of Baltimore, MD, total homes shipped for the fourth quarter of 2004, and percentage change from a year ago, were reported as follows:
U.S. Fourth Quarter Total: 11,000 modular homes Percentage Change: +8%
For calendar year 2004, modular shipments nationally were 42,700, up 13% over 2003’s level of 37,800. In terms of medium-term trends, these figures compare with 26,000 modular homes shipped nationally in 1994.
The 2004 modular consumption growth rate is almost double the 7 percent growth rate for 2004 conventional building permit activity.

Please note that access to this information is limited to members only and is password protected. Quarterly data on modular homes will be published approximately eight weeks after the end of a quarter.
The reliability and accuracy of the modular shipments data in this flash report is entirely dependent upon the factual representations made by state agencies, individual manufacturers, DAPIAs, and other sources, and may or may not reflect the entire market. Raw data is based on labels purchased. The report is still under development and the methodology will evolve over time. Modular shipments for single-family residential dwellings include detached homes as well as town homes. The data is for homes, not sections shipped. It excludes shipments of commercial buildings of any type.
